When I got the call I would be leaving for the Cook Islands in one week to shoot the new Billabong Australia swim campaign, my first question was, “Where the heck are the Cook Islands!?”. I found I was not alone in my confusion, as every person I shared the good news with seemed to have the very same response.

The Cook Islands are in the South Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Zealand, between French Polynesia and American Samoa. The islands’ most recent claim-to-fame was as the location for the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. This was a fact I learned while watching the sexiest safety video ever on my flight over, which featured four of the SI models in bikinis showing you how to properly fasten your safety belt.

I rendezvoused with my Australian crew on the main island of Rarotonga before boarding a small puddle jumper plane to Aitutaki. Looking out the window all I could see was white sand and turquoise water. It was UNREAL.
And it just kept getting better. Everywhere I looked it was like a postcard shot. No filter needed, ever. We spent the next few days shooting on hammocks and pure white sand bars in the middle of the ocean. We would start at sunrise and end at sunset, but the long days don’t seem to matter when you are working in paradise.
I came home about ten shades tanner, covered with mosquito bites, slightly sunburned, and happy as a clam. I cant wait to show you these amazing shots. Stay tuned…
